Thankful Hearts
This month we have been working on being thankful. Research shows that the happiest people are the people that are the most thankful. Students created leaves on a tree on our door this month that showed their thanks. They also wrote letters and cards to different people in our school that we are thankful for. People kept coming into our room all day thanking the students back for the beautiful cards. I told the class I am so thankful to have each and everyone of my students. They are amazing kids. I am also very thankful for you, parents. Thank you for partnering with our school and staff to help your children learn and grow into responsible adults that will make a difference in this world!
Trip to the Movie Theater on Friday, December 18th
Students in 2nd and 3rd grade will be going to the Blackduck Theater on Friday, December 18th to watch the movie “The Good Dinosaur.” It will cost $5 per student. Permission slips and additional information will be going home after break.
Elf on the Shelf
We have a mischievous elf that visits our classroom every December. His name is Kringle. You will have to ask your child about his escapades throughout the month of December.
Travels to Europe
In Social Studies we will travel to Europe in December and study many different holidays that are celebrated in December all around the world. If you have any artifacts or items to share from any European country, we would love to have you or your child bring them in. We will also be studying the great composers of the classical period and three famous Renaissance men (Shakespeare, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci).
Reading Logs
We always have students turn in their reading logs on Fridays, but since we are at the end of the month, please have your child turn in all his or her reading logs from November. They are due back on Tuesday, December 1st with a parent or guardian signature. This reading homework is worth 3 points of their reading grade. I will also be sending home Pizza Hut Book It Coupons for students who have completed their reading logs in November.
